Hourly planning math (Nest Tenders PUCO 35 and Krupp blog)

Using Nest Tenders filed PUCO 35 dollars ($239/hr two movers + truck; extra mover $40; extra truck $44; Franklin County small-move flat $199; 1-hour min) and Krupp blog bands (two+truck $140–$180/hr; three+truck $200–$250/hr; two-hour minimum):

Nest Tenders minima are printed tariff products. All My Sons Columbus has no public $/hour, so there is no All My Sons hourly product here. E.E. Ward’s $80–$96 is typical Columbus copy, not a locked E.E. Ward SKU — no Ward hourly product here. Leaders and Integrity print no $/hour. A City of Columbus 906 occupancy, if used, is the Rec Parks 2026 occupancy 906 **$60** when you cite that PDF; the DPS how-to does not print the fee. Rec Parks Moving Event **$50–$3,000** is parades, not household-goods trucks. Those are city fees, not mover lines.

In-state vs interstate A Columbus local move that never leaves Ohio is PUCO (certificate for the transportation of household goods / CPCN). Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, Akron, Middletown, and Plain City are still Ohio. If either address is outside Ohio, FMCSA Part 375 applies (Protect Your Move). E.E. Ward SAFER is Intrastate Only — interstate is sold as a NAVL agent, not as USDOT 1222904 interstate authority.

All My Sons Columbus did not publish long-distance dollar corridors on the location page opened 2026-08-28. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Columbus printed no website hourly and no LD corridor table.

Ohio paperwork: PUCO certificate, estimates, and claims

Before an intrastate Ohio household-goods job, the mover needs a PUCO certificate for the transportation of household goods / CPCN (ORC 4921.32; OAC 4901:2-21; Know Your Rights). Search both lookups: Household goods carriers list and Search Motor Carriers. Or call PUCO (800) 686-7826.

A written estimate is required unless the move will cost $500 or less or is scheduled within five days (OAC 4901:2-19-08). Estimate types: nonbinding, binding, or guaranteed-not-to-exceed. Claims: at least 60 days to file; mover acknowledges in 15 days; settlement offer in 30 days.

Cargo / liability: cite OAC 4901:2-19-06 — default replacement value; optional 60¢ per pound per article. Do not silently prefer the PUCO FAQ figures $20,000 cargo / $350,000 liability over the OAC.

Interstate jobs use FMCSA Part 375 (Protect Your Move). Default interstate valuation is Full Value Protection unless waived in writing (49 CFR 375.201). Ohio Search-by-State returned 681 Found on 2026-08-28. Re-check SAFER and both PUCO lookups before hiring.

Columbus scale, occupancy, and access

Short North, German Village, Clintonville, Grandview Heights, and Italian Village are Columbus neighborhoods, not separate city guides. Dublin, Westerville, Reynoldsburg, Grove City, and Upper Arlington are not city-page links here. Compare live cost pages for Middletown and Plain City. Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, and Akron have mover pages.

906 occupancy. City of Columbus Department of Public Service: a 906 Right-of-Way Occupancy Permit (Non-construction Related) is required to temporarily occupy public right-of-way for a non-construction purpose, such as parking moving vans, trailers, etc. Maximum 7 days. DPS how-to: review 3–10 business days; application fees paid up front; dollar amount of the 906 fee is not printed on that PDF (906 how-to). Rec Parks Moving Event $50–$3,000 lines are parade/race events, not household-goods trucks.

On-street parking out of service. Division of Parking Services policy (effective 16 Aug 2022) expressly includes temporary loading and unloading to accommodate moving in or out of a residence or business. Paid-parking areas: post temporary signage 24 hours before work; all other areas 72 hours. Printed fees: meter head/post removal/re-install $60.00 per meter; multi-space kiosk $350.00; failure to remove signage $250.00. Lost meter revenue under Columbus City Code 2155.055. Paid parking/meters free on Sundays and city holidays (out-of-service policy).

Permit districts printed on the city PDF. Short North (zones SNA, SNB, SNC, SND, SNE, VG) and German Village & Surrounding Areas (zone GV), resident annual $25. Clintonville does not appear on that PDF, the ROW page, or Mobility & Parking Services pages opened for this guide. Do not invent Clintonville-specific curb rules (permit parking rules).

Curb rules, peak season, and winter weather

906 occupancy, not a Rec Parks parade permit

Closest official household-moving-van tool is 906 Non-Construction Occupancy (moving vans/trailers; 7-day max; 3–10 business-day review). The DPS how-to does not print the application dollar fee — do not invent one. Rec Parks Moving Event $50–$3,000 is parades/races, not HHG trucks. ROW Permit Office: 111 N. Front Street; (614) 645-7497; apply at portal.columbus.gov/permits.

Alleys, standing time, snow emergency

Public ROW includes public alleys. Columbus City Code § 2151.01(r): no stop/stand/park on a street or alley 23 feet or less in width when posted. § 2151.20: trucks may not stand longer than one hour without moving 75 feet except during actual loading/unloading. Snow emergency (Chapter 2157): mayor-declared; no stopping on designated/posted snow-removal streets two hours after the news-media announcement. No citywide odd/even winter overnight ban was printed on the pages that opened.

COI and freight elevators

No City of Columbus or Franklin County page opened that requires a government-issued certificate of insurance or freight-elevator reservation for a household move. Treat COI, freight-elevator windows, and dock rules as building / HOA / condominium requirements. Ask that property.

Peak season

Midwest planning note on the Ohio cost hub and cost-assumptions template: summer or end-of-month often 10% to 20% higher; midweek often 5% to 10% lower than a weekend; winter often 5% to 15% lower when weather risk is manageable. moveBuddha compiled Columbus page: peak premium 20%–30% (compiled, not a company tariff).

Winter weather

Midwest planning note: snow, ice, spring storms, and basement access can change labor time. Long suburban driveways and alley access can affect truck positioning. Columbus snow emergency: no stopping on designated snow-removal streets after the two-hour notice. Warrior Watch is a plow-status map, not a parking-ban ordinance.

Neighborhood questions for your quote

Ask the property. Do not treat mover checklists as facts about a specific building. Dublin, Westerville, Reynoldsburg, Grove City, and Upper Arlington are not separate city guides here.

  • Short North: Ask whether a 906 occupancy is needed to park the van, whether the block is a Short North permit zone (SNA–SNE, VG; resident annual $25 on the city PDF), and whether paid-parking out-of-service signs need 24 hours. E.E. Ward names Short North/downtown parking permits and shuttle logistics for streets too tight for a 53-foot trailer.
  • German Village: Ask German Village permit zone GV (resident annual $25), 906 occupancy for the curb, alley width (no parking on alleys 23 feet or less when posted), and floor/wall protection. E.E. Ward names German Village and Victorian Village heirlooms and floors. All My Sons names a German Village home.
  • Clintonville / Grandview Heights / Italian Village: Ask street width, how far the truck can legally park from the door, and 906 occupancy. Clintonville is **not** a printed permit district on the city PDF. Do not invent Clintonville-specific curb rules. These neighborhoods are not separate city guides.
  • Downtown / Arena District / OSU: Ask COI naming, freight-elevator windows, and dock rules as building/HOA requirements. E.E. Ward names Downtown Columbus condo move-in windows and OSU move-in routing. All My Sons names Arena District office and OSU students/faculty. Leaders names Olde Town East and Brewery District.
  • High-rise condos anywhere in Columbus: Ask COI naming, elevator reservation, and dock windows as building/HOA rules. COI, elevator reservation, and dock windows are building/HOA rules.
  • Middletown / Plain City / Cincinnati / Cleveland / Dayton / Toledo / Akron: Ask how travel time is billed. Middletown and Plain City have live MCHQ cost pages. A Columbus-to-Cleveland job that never leaves Ohio is still PUCO CPCN. Compare [movers in Cincinnati](/movers/ohio/cincinnati/), [movers in Cleveland](/movers/ohio/cleveland/), [movers in Dayton](/movers/ohio/dayton/), [movers in Toledo](/movers/ohio/toledo/), and [movers in Akron](/movers/ohio/akron/).

Compare these numbers with a written estimate

An Ohio in-state mover owes you a written estimate unless the move will cost $500 or less or is scheduled within five days (OAC 4901:2-19-08). Verify the performing carrier on SAFER, the PUCO household-goods carriers list, and Search Motor Carriers. Cargo: cite OAC 4901:2-19-06 (default replacement; optional 60¢/lb).
