Hourly planning math (Safebound)
Using Safebound published hourly figures from the Miami location (2-man $135/hr, 3-man $180/hr, 4-man $225/hr; 3-hour labor + 1 travel hour):
| Stated hour assumption | Formula | Planning total |
|---|---|---|
| Safebound 2 movers, 3-hour labor + 1 travel (printed $540 minimum) | $135 × 4 | $540 |
| Safebound 3 movers, 3-hour labor + 1 travel (printed $720 minimum) | $180 × 4 | $720 |
| Safebound 3 movers, 5 hours (Brickell-Coral Gables 2BR worked-example high end) | $180 × 5 | $900 |
| Safebound 4 movers, 3-hour labor + 1 travel (printed $900 minimum) | $225 × 4 | $900 |
Safebound minima are printed products. Miami Movers For Less printed two hourly menus with no hour-minimum dollar — do not invent a product from either menu. Online Movers did not print an hour-minimum dollar, so there is no Online Movers hourly product here. Pro Movers and All My Sons Miami have no public $/hour, so there is no hourly product here for them. The Florida 2-bedroom table assumes 3 movers and about **7 hours**. A City of Miami MPA meter rental, if used, is **$30 per space per day plus $50 admin**. Miami Beach moving space rental is **$34 per space**. Those are city fees, not mover lines.

Safebound Miami location Long-distance from Miami described as flat-rate by cubic footage. Routes named: New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles. No corridor dollar amounts on that URL. Miami to Fort Lauderdale (~30 miles) is billed on the same local hourly card ($135-$225, 4-hour minimum) (2026 blog).
In-state vs interstate A Miami local move that never leaves Florida is FDACS Chapter 507 Fla. IM. Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota, and Tequesta are still Florida. Miami-Dade / Broward / Palm Beach tri-county local work also needs Miami-Dade mover registration. If either address is outside Florida, FMCSA Part 375 applies (Protect Your Move). Online Movers SAFER is NOT AUTHORIZED interstate — do not treat that hourly card as an interstate tariff.
Safebound quotes long-distance at a flat rate by cubic footage (amounts not published). All My Sons Miami did not publish long-distance dollar corridors beyond $2,000 and up.
Florida paperwork: Fla. IM, estimates, and claims
Before an intrastate Florida household-goods job, the mover needs FDACS Chapter 507 Intrastate Mover registration advertised as Fla. IM No. / Fla. Mover Reg. No. (Moving Within Florida; Moving Companies). Search both lookups: legacy Business Search (Program IM-Intrastate Mover) and new License Lookup (License Type Intrastate Movers). Or call 1-800-HELP-FLA (435-7352). This is not DHSMV. FLHSMV IRP 'HOUSEHOLD GOODS CARRIER' is a plate class, not Chapter 507 operating authority.
Chapter 507 requires a written estimate and contract, signed or electronically acknowledged, before moving or accessorial services. It must include name, phone, physical address, state registration number, dates, pickup/delivery addresses, itemized costs, and acceptable payment forms (at least two of cash/cashier's check, personal check, or credit card). Default valuation floor: 60 cents per pound per article. Cargo liability at least $10,000 per shipment (or a $50,000 bond/CD if operating two or fewer vehicles). Refusal to relinquish goods after a law-enforcement order is a third-degree felony. Prescription medicines and children's goods may not be withheld.
Miami-Dade tri-county local jobs (within Miami-Dade, or between Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach) also require county mover registration. Final charges cannot exceed the estimate by more than 10 percent. Claims: notify the mover in writing within 60 days after delivery; mover status within 90 days. County licensing 786-469-2300.
Interstate jobs use FMCSA Part 375 (Protect Your Move). Default interstate valuation is Full Value Protection unless waived in writing (49 CFR 375.201). Re-check SAFER and both FDACS lookups before hiring.
Miami scale, meters, and access
Brickell, Wynwood, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, and Design District are Miami neighborhoods, not separate city guides. Compare live cost pages for Tampa, Sarasota, and Tequesta. Fort Lauderdale has a movers page; do not use Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, or Coral Springs cost URLs.
City of Miami meters. Miami Parking Authority rents on-street meters and other on-street spaces. Valet $20/space/day; any other use $30/space/day; both carry a $50 administrative fee per order. Apply at least 48 hours ahead; prepaid; approval is not guaranteed by payment. Coconut Grove reserved-meter purchase also needs a permit signed by the Coconut Grove NET office (2820 McFarlane Road) (MPA meter rentals). That page does not print the word moving and does not name Brickell, Downtown, Wynwood, or South Beach. Parking Enforcement Officers cite loading-zone, no-parking, fire-lane, double-parking, and expired-meter violations (MPA FAQ).
Miami-Dade residential streets. Category 3 vehicles (exceeding 20 feet in length or more than eight feet in height) are prohibited from storage/parking in residential zoned districts. Temporary parking of Category 2 or 3 in front of the building line or on a right-of-way is permitted only for loading or unloading, or while actively engaged in providing commercial service. Convenience stop: not more than one hour in any 24-hour period (Miami-Dade Code §33-124.1) (residential commercial vehicles).
Miami Beach (separate city). Space rentals explicitly include Moving at $34 per space. Advance: at least three business days; fifteen business days for non-metered or residential areas. Moving rentals are exempt from the extra Public Works/Film permit other uses need (space rentals). Freight Loading Zones (GVW exceeding 10,000 lbs, permit or pay the meter), Commercial Loading Zones, and Alley Loading Permits (GVW under 10,000 lbs) are citywide, not labeled South Beach (freight loading).
Curb rules, peak season, and summer heat
No dedicated moving-truck permit; MPA and Miami Beach space rental
Neither Miami-Dade nor the City of Miami publishes a household-moving-truck permit with a moving-specific fee. Closest official tools: MPA on-street meter rental ($30/space/day + $50 admin, 48 hours) and Miami Beach moving space rental ($34/space, 3 business days). City of Miami Public Works closure/utility permits and Temporary Occupancy Permits are construction/ROW tracks, not printed as household-move permits. Contact MPA rentmeters@miamiparking.com; 305-373-6789 ext. 270. Miami Beach parkingmeterrentals@miamibeachfl.gov; 305.673.7505.
Residential ROW and loading zones
Miami-Dade residential commercial-vehicle rules cover loading/unloading, not an annual hang-tag for a moving truck. Miami Beach FLZ/CLZ/alley rules are posted zones with GVW splits at 10,000 lbs.
COI and freight elevators
COI, freight-elevator windows, and dock rules are building, HOA, or condo-association requirements. Ask that property. Safebound prints COI within 24 hours at no charge and Brickell elevator reservations $150-$300 paid by the resident to the building. Pro Movers names Panorama Tower, Brickell Arch, and One Broadway plus elevator windows that slam shut at noon.
Peak season
FDACS: late May through August is typically a busy time for moving companies. All My Sons Miami: peak May-August, reserve at least six weeks. moveBuddha compiled Miami page: peak May-September, weekends, last 3 days of any month, with rates 20%-30% higher than off-peak (compiled, not a company tariff).
Summer heat
Southeast planning note on the Florida cost hub and cost-assumptions template: heat, humidity, and afternoon storms can make morning loading safer and faster. Gated communities, long driveways, and HOA move rules affect truck access. Heat and humidity change carry time and crew breaks.
Neighborhood questions for your quote
Ask the property. Do not treat mover checklists as facts about a specific building. Hialeah, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Doral, Kendall, and West Palm Beach are not separate city guides here.
- Brickell / Downtown: Ask freight-elevator windows (Safebound names 3–4 hour weekday 8AM–5PM windows that Pro says can slam shut at noon), COI naming the condo association (building/HOA rule), and whether City of Miami MPA meter rental ($30/space/day + $50 admin, 48 hours) is needed. Pro Movers names Panorama Tower, Brickell Arch, and One Broadway. Safebound prints Brickell elevator reservations $150–$300 paid by the resident to the building.
- Coconut Grove: Ask the Coconut Grove NET extra step on MPA reserved meters (2820 McFarlane Road) and long-carry if the truck cannot park on the block. Safebound names door-jamb protectors and stair runners.
- Wynwood / Little Havana / Design District: Ask street width, how far the truck can legally park from the door, and Miami-Dade residential ROW limits (loading/unloading or active service; convenience stop ≤1 hour). They are Miami neighborhoods, not separate city guides.
- Miami Beach streets (citywide, not a separate MCHQ city page): Ask Miami Beach moving space rental at $34/space (3 business days; 15 for non-metered/residential) and whether the truck needs a Freight Loading Zone (GVW over 10,000 lbs) or Commercial Loading Zone. Safebound names 48–72 hour elevator notice on Collins/Ocean Drive. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Doral names Miami Beach high-rise COI.
- High-rise condos anywhere in Miami-Dade: Ask COI naming, elevator reservation, and dock windows as building/HOA rules. Miami Movers For Less tells customers to get the insurance certificate before the elevator is reserved. Pro Movers names freight elevators and loading-dock rules.
- Tampa / Sarasota / Tequesta: Ask how travel time is billed. Those three cities have live MCHQ cost pages. A Miami-to-Tampa job that never leaves Florida is still FDACS Chapter 507. Compare [movers in Tampa](/movers/florida/tampa/), [movers in Fort Lauderdale](/movers/florida/fort-lauderdale/), and [movers in Orlando](/movers/florida/orlando/).
Compare these numbers with a written estimate
A Florida in-state mover owes you a written estimate and contract before services. Miami-Dade tri-county local jobs: final charges cannot exceed that estimate by more than 10 percent. Verify the performing carrier on SAFER and both FDACS lookups (legacy, new). Florida in-state work is Chapter 507 Fla. IM, not DHSMV.
